Josh Grubaugh

Advisor to Humble Philanthropy

Josh Grubaugh is a seasoned startup investor and advisor with more than 12 years of experience with successful investments into disruptive technology companies and is currently a Partner at WYO VC, a Wyoming based venture capital platform. He is also the Founder of Pack Energy, a microgrid ecosystem startup focused on developing a first-of-its-kind modular multi-node microgrid system.

Josh also spent over 20 years as a real-asset investor, finance and business development executive. In his prior experience at Hanwha Asset Management, he successfully invested ~$700 million across 10 transactions and over 50 real assets via either equity or debt using a small team over three years. He also managed LP relationships with some of the largest infrastructure funds globally, while supporting the deployment of over $300 million into new infrastructure funds. 

He was the co-managing partner of a sustainability-based fund platform at Deutsche Asset Management, where he helped lead the launch of the China Clean Energy Fund, Apple’s supply chain decarbonization fund to make all Apple products carbon neutral. 

Earlier in his career at Recurrent Energy, Josh directly led, originated or supported the development of ~1 gigawatt of solar power resulting in nearly $2 billion in capital deployed. At InterGen, Josh gained extensive experience as an operator and asset manager in power infrastructure where he led global strategy for over 20 power plants across 10 countries valued at over $5 billion, helped lead a $3.4 billion debt restructuring and refinancing and supported two company sales each valued over $5 billion.  

Josh currently serves as a board member for the Jackson Hole Technology Partnership. He holds a BA in economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  He has studied economics at The London School of Economics and Political Science.
